  Forensics by FT-Raman Spectral Library

Back to list
The Forensics by Raman Library is a collection of 175 Raman spectra of controlled substances, common contaminants, and "cutting" agents. To create this library, the compounds were excited with a Nd:VO4 laser (1064 nm) using a laser power of 100 mW measured at the sample. The compounds were measured in glass containers—a common practice with Raman analysis. The spectra were then saved in Raman Shift format.

The spectra in this high resolution library were originally acquired at 4 cm-1 spectral resolution (data points every 2 cm-1).

This library is designed to allow fast and easy identification of common street drugs, such as methamphetamine, as well as impurities and other agents that are typically found in illegal drugs. The library is particularly suited for use by law enforcement personnel and forensic laboratories, as well as those in the pharmaceutical industry.
